This 7-day Bhutan circuit takes you from the Indo-Bhutan border at Phuentsholing through Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro, blending scenic mountain drives with cultural immersion and one signature trek. Expect a foot crossing at the Bhutan border, waterfalls and river confluences en route, and stays anchored in each major town rather than constant relocation. Thimphu brings the Buddha Dordenma statue, the National Memorial Chorten, Takin Preserve, and a hands-on cultural session at Simply Bhutan (traditional dress, archery, wine tasting). A day trip to Punakha covers Dochula Pass and its 108 stupas, the historic Punakha Dzong, and a walk across one of Bhutan's longest suspension bridges — with river rafting available as an optional add-on. Paro is built around the trip's centerpiece: the hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang), a 6.4km trek to 10,245 ft with horses available for those who want them and a hot stone bath offered afterward. Paro sightseeing rounds things out with Ta Dzong and Rinpung Dzong. Throughout, transport, permits, a mandatory cultural guide, and most meals are handled, with a couple of local food and nightlife recommendations dropped in along the way (Kizom Café Pizzeria, Park 76 Café & Pub) for downtime.
